Are you someone who is amazing at table tennis but finds that your blade is hindering your skills? If yes, then this is the rubber sheet for you. A few months ago I was looking for a table tennis blade rubber sheet as mine was getting super old and damaged.
That is when I came across this product and decided to buy it. A few months later I have to say that this is probably the best rubber money can buy.
The first thought that came to my mind when I came across this table was that the price was ridiculously high but now I know that that isn’t for nothing. The highly flexible and spring sponge allows for great speed.
This product is pretty similar to Tenergy 05 and Tenergy 05 Hard but the only difference is that this one has a soft-spring layer. One thing I have noticed is that this table is better for offensive play rather than defensive as it’s harder to control the ball with short strokes, it is definitely not for beginners.
I am a big table tennis enthusiast and I use it on my backhand, it provides strong consistency and works well for my flicks especially on serve returns. I did have a slight problem with it which I will talk about later in the article.

Now, let us take a deeper dive into the PROS and CONS, and specifications of this table.
Pros
1. Thickness:
The rubber comes in three different thicknesses, 11.7mm, 1.9mm, or 2.1mm. All of us table tennis enthusiasts know that the thinner the sponge the better the control and the thicker sponge the more the speed.
I bought the 2.1mm sheet for my forehand as a fast offensive rubber allows for the best shots and I bought the 1.7mm sheet for my backhand as it is more controllable. Keep in mind that all rubber sheets are priced per sheet so you will need to buy two for a complete racket.
2. Speed:
The speed on this table is roughly 130, increasing or reducing a bit depending on the thickness of the sheet.
A speed over 70 allows for great offensive all-around play and that is why in my opinion this sheet deserves five stars for its quick gameplay and amazing offensive shots, especially on my forehand.

3. Control:
The speed on this rubber sheet is alright but the control is amazing, my friends are beginners at table tennis and when I play with them they mention that they feel like the racket has great control compared to the other ones they’ve played with.
I feel the same way, now I know that sometimes greater control will need us to sacrifice speed but that isn’t the case with this rubber sheet, the harder you hit the ball the faster it travels but you still have good control over it.
It is a great alternative for those players who think that control on the Tenergy 05 is not so easy.
4. The hardness of the rubber:
Most table tennis rubbers have a hardness of around 30-45. This rubber has a hardness of 32 which means that it provides us with more spin at lower speeds, this includes serves.
I play European-style table tennis in which the elbow is bent when looping, that is why I enjoy the lower hardness on this rubber. If you are someone who plays Chinese-style table tennis in which the elbow is straighter when looping I would recommend getting a rubber sheet with a higher number.
If you are a beginner just get a medium to lower hardness rubber like this one. And if you are a pro you obviously know which level of hardness you prefer best.

5. Spin:
Our rubber has a spin of 115 which is pretty high and is again one of the reasons it provides us with great offensive play. Not only is the spin on this sheet excellent, but the response is also pretty great for my backhand shots as well.
6. dBlock:
Because this rubber has greater control, blocking the ball is a breeze. They say that this is good for offensive play but this works great on my backhand for controlling the ball and playing defensively sometimes.
Keep in mind that although this is a great rubber, to make the most of it you have to use good technique, otherwise it is as good as a standard cheap rubber. This is why it is definitely not for beginners.
Cons:
I previously talked about how the speed is great, that is still true but it, unfortunately, isn’t the best it could be, this is obviously because of the fact that this ball has better control.
One thing I am disappointed about is that this sheet doesn’t do much good if you are playing further away from the table. It works well for flicks but you have a strike harder than you would with other rubbers if you are further from the table.

How many sheets does the package contain?
It contains only one side so make sure to buy two and I would definitely recommend buying one black and one red.
How is this one different from the Butterfly Tenergy 05?
This one is different as it uses a softer sponge which makes it more springy. It also has more control than the Tenergy 05.
Is it good for backhand shots?
This sheet has great control and I would say that this is better for a backhand than a front hand but overall this is great for both offensive and defensive play for a wide variety of players.
Would I recommend the Butterfly Tenergy 05 FX Rubber Sheet?
The FX series has greater ball control with improved soft spring technology. It provides me with a great gameplay experience and it seems durable. In my opinion, this rubber has great value for money and I would recommend it to everyone looking to buy a rubber sheet for their paddle.
